Assistant Project Manager -High Voltage

Job Summary

Prepare subcontractor schedules, receive and check material quality, and complete QA/QC checklists. Manage submittals, respond to RFIs, and prepare official project documentation, reports, and final quantity close-outs. Negotiate extra work and propose special projects within the Project Management function as necessary. Ensure compliance with contract requirements while optimizing labor, equipment, and subcontractor use across multiple active jobs. Support the Project Management Department with other duties as assigned, including back-up documentation and routing. This role requires 2 to 4 years of high voltage substation and transmission line construction experience and involves up to 75% travel across the Midwest.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 2 to 4 years of Medium/High Voltage substation and transmission line construction industry experience
  • knowledge of construction techniques

  • Take reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety
  • working toward the Company's Zero Injury principles
  • Experience with Project Management systems, such as Procore, Build2Win, MS Project and/or P6 and, HCSS
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Comfortable with Microsoft processing tools including MS Word and Excel
  • Ability to read and understand contracts
  • Detail oriented
  • good organization skills
  • Ability to communicate well with others, both written and orally
  • Functional knowledge of job cost accounting
  • Understanding of CPM scheduling
  • Must be capable of up to 75% travel (e.g. 3 weeks or 15 days per month) by automobile (as driver and passenger), commercial airlines, rental vehicles and public transportation and be able to lodge in public facilities
  • Travel will be necessary to conduct the duties of this job

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
