Job Summary
Assistant Project Manager at EMC Mechanical Services to support the Project Manager in planning, executing, and monitoring mechanical construction projects. Responsibilities include coordinating workers, material, and equipment; ensuring adherence to specifications, schedules, and budgets; managing project documentation; facilitating communication among clients, subcontractors, and internal teams; conducting regular site visits; tracking budgets and preparing cost reports; supporting quality control; identifying risks and developing mitigation strategies; and compiling status updates for stakeholders. Desired background includes knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and piping, and familiarity with codes and regulations. Requires 2-4 years of relevant experience, proficiency with MS Project/Primavera and Excel, and strong communication and organizational skills.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred)
- 2-4 years of experience in project management or engineering roles, preferably within mechanical contracting or construction
- Technical knowledge of mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, and piping; understanding of relevant codes and regulations
- Proficiency in project management software (MS Project, Primavera) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel)
- Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to interact professionally with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams
- Ability to conduct site visits and manage multiple tasks with attention to detail
- Must have a valid Virginia driver’s license and acceptable driving record as part of pre-employment screening
- Must be able to perform physical tasks as described (e.g., site visits, office work) and be willing to work overtime as needed
