Assistant Project Manager

Job Summary
Collaborate with engineers and architects to determine project specifications, negotiate contracts with external vendors, and communicate daily with clients. Establish the project chart of accounts, develop construction schedules, and produce responsibility listings for staff. Track change proposals, process owner payment applications, monitor job costs, and manage the project closeout process. Solicit bids from subcontractors and suppliers while ensuring adherence to health and safety standards. Provide administrative support to leadership and training to project staff. Requires familiarity with CMIC and P6 software, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to work on-site in construction environments.
Required Qualifications
- In-depth understanding of construction procedures and material and project management principles
- Familiarity with quality and health and safety standards
- Good knowledge of MS Office
- Familiarity with construction/ project management software (CMIC)
- Familiarity with scheduling software (P6)
- Outstanding communication and negotiation skills
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- A team player with leadership abilities
- Ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, passenger use of construction personnel hoists, ability to climb ladders and navigate work areas under construction
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- Use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, sit, talk and hear, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- BSc/BA in engineering, building science, construction management or relevant field (preferred)
- Federal Government Construction: 3 years (Preferred)
- Construction industry experience: 5 years (Preferred)
