Assistant Project Manager

Job Summary
Collaborate with engineers and architects to determine project specifications and negotiate contracts with external vendors to reach profitable agreements. Communicate daily with clients while assisting in establishing project chart of accounts, developing CPM construction schedules, and producing responsibility listings. Track change orders and owner payment applications, monitor job costs, and manage the project closeout process. Ensure adherence to health and safety standards by reporting issues and training staff. Solicit bids from subcontractors and suppliers to support project execution. This role supports the Project Manager in overseeing construction projects from initiation to completion, requiring on-site presence at construction work sites.
Required Qualifications
- In-depth understanding of construction procedures and material and project management principles
- Familiarity with quality and health and safety standards
- Good knowledge of MS Office
- Familiarity with construction/ project management software (CMIC)
- Familiarity with scheduling software (P6)
- Outstanding communication and negotiation skills
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- A team player with leadership abilities
- Ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs
- Ability to use construction personnel hoists
- Ability to climb ladders
- Ability to navigate work areas under construction

- Construction industry experience: 5 years
Desired Qualifications
- BSc/BA in engineering, building science, construction management or relevant field (preferred)
- Federal Government Construction: 3 years (Preferred)
