Assistant Project Manager - Commissioning

Job Summary

Provide general management for mechanical construction builds and projects under the guidance of the Project or Group Manager. Support the Project Manager through the bid stage to completion, ensuring long lead materials are released and tracked for on-time, on-budget delivery. Contact vendors to verify submittal and equipment timelines, while participating in scheduling activities, milestone creation, and weekly sync meetings. Interact with internal and external customers, including production teams and general contractors, to monitor job progress and promote safe behavior. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Mechanical Engineering with 1-2 years of relevant experience. Works Monday through Friday from 6 am to 6 pm with 10-20% travel.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 1-2 years Construction/Mechanical/Manufacturing experience
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
  • Must be available for weekend shifts
  • Valid driver's license
  • Must be able to effectively lead and coach others
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Must be able to interact with internal and external customers (production, VSL, customers and general contractors)
  • Must be able to ensure proper job progress
  • Must be able to support and encourage safe behavior
  • Must be able to perform other related duties as required and assigned
  • Must be able to provide general management for mechanical construction builds/projects
  • Must be able to provide support to the Project Manager or Group Manager
  • Must be able to act as a resource to the production team when questions arise
  • Must be able to provide support to the Project Manager
  • Must be able to bid stage through completion as needed
  • Must be able to ensure long lead material is released (electrical gear, mechanical gear, fabrication, etc.)
  • Must be able to track these items to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget
  • Must be able to contact vendors to ensure timelines are being met for submittals and mechanical equipment delivery
  • Must be able to participate in scheduling activities to create milestones
  • Must be able to create production labor breakouts
  • Must be able to participate in weekly project specific sync meetings
  • Must be able to communicate project needs
  • Must be able to track project and team members status
  • Must be able to interact with internal and external customers (production, VSL, customers and general contractors)
  • Must be able to ensure proper job progress
  • Must be able to support and encourage safe behavior
  • Must be able to perform other related duties as required and assigned

Desired Qualifications

  • 1-2 years Construction/Mechanical/Manufacturing experience (preferred)
