Job Summary
The Programming Assistant organizes and implements programs designed to meet residents' individual needs across psychological, intellectual, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual dimensions, supporting the Programming Director and safely utilizing equipment. Responsibilities include developing and implementing innovative daily programs, leading one-on-one and group activities, supporting independent activities, understanding residents’ abilities, communicating changes in condition to the Program Director or Nurse, responding to emergencies, handling difficult resident behaviors, and maintaining accurate records. Requires familiarity with equipment used in recreational programs for elders and the disabled, confidentiality, professional interaction with the elderly, and adherence to Benchmark and state regulations; participation in training and local community activities is expected. Education/Experience/Licensure: high school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience; valid driver’s license. Knowledge of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia-related care is preferred. This is an hourly, community-based role in Providence, RI with in-person work.
Required Qualifications
- Must have a high school diploma, bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience and knowledge of aging and disability issues.
- Must be qualified by experience and training to develop programs appropriate for elders and disabled individuals.
- Valid driver’s license.
