Job Summary

Lead as an on-campus faculty member in Lynn University’s Drama Department, teaching and serving as technical director for program productions. Responsibilities include leading scenic design and set building for all drama productions, supervising student workers, recruiting and advising students, mentoring students in musical theatre, coordinating production planning and curriculum development, ensuring safety and compliance, and collaborating with multiple university departments to support a collaborative creative environment. Desired expertise includes scenic design, set-building, and theatrical production management; additional preference for lighting design, lighting consoles, audio systems procedures, and theater rigging. Proficiency with Vectorworks Spotlight and Microsoft Office is required. Minimum qualifications include MFA in Technical Theater (or equivalent professional experience) and professional experience as a technical director, with willingness to travel for recruitment conferences across the United States. The role also involves attending meetings, coordinating with the Director and staff, and engaging in recruitment activities such as open houses, auditions, and high-school visits.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong background in scenic design, set-building, and theatrical production management procedures
  • Knowledge of lighting design, lighting consoles, and related software (e.g., Vectorworks Spotlight)
  • Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to travel for recruitment conferences across the United States
  • Ability to supervise staff and student workers; strong organizational and teaching skills
  • Ability to mentor students and contribute to curriculum development and assessment
  • Ability to coordinate production planning, scheduling, and safety compliance
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
