Job Summary

Teach architecture design studios, theory, professional practice, and technical courses while mentoring students. Conduct research and service, and perform other duties as assigned. Maintain a terminal degree in Architecture, five years of college-level teaching experience, and seven years of licensed architectural practice. Full-time, non-tenure-track faculty position at Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View, Texas. Salary is commensurate with education and experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Terminal degree in Architecture (M.ARCH or Ph.D. in Architecture) from a NAAB accredited program
  • Five (5) years teaching experience at the college level in the undergraduate or graduate levels of instruction
  • Licensed Architect with a minimum of seven (7) years of professional experience working in architectural firms
  • Ability to teach architectural design studios at all levels, as well as theory, professional practice, and technical architecture courses
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate design studios and support students in preparation for professional careers in architecture
  • Excellent written, oral, graphic, and technological communication skills
  • Proficiency in architectural, graphic, and related design software
  • Demonstrated experience in architectural/planning writing, publication, scholarship, exhibitions, conferences, and/or workshops
  • Knowledge of architecture accreditation and assessment processes
  • Demonstrated experience in project programming, design, and technical documentation
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively teach and contribute to the academic and professional development of students
  • Engagement with professional organizations and/or professional practice in architecture
  • Criminal history check verification

Desired Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in the field of Architecture
  • Ten (10) years of architectural practice that includes a broad portfolio of work that demonstrates the ability to bring real world experiences to the classroom and studio
  • Certifications in the US Green Building Council LEED program
