Job Summary
Teach architecture design studios, theory, professional practice, and technical courses while mentoring students. Conduct research and service, and perform other duties as assigned. Maintain a terminal degree in Architecture, five years of college-level teaching experience, and seven years of licensed architectural practice. Full-time, non-tenure-track faculty position at Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View, Texas. Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
Required Qualifications
- Terminal degree in Architecture (M.ARCH or Ph.D. in Architecture) from a NAAB accredited program
- Five (5) years teaching experience at the college level in the undergraduate or graduate levels of instruction
- Licensed Architect with a minimum of seven (7) years of professional experience working in architectural firms
- Ability to teach architectural design studios at all levels, as well as theory, professional practice, and technical architecture courses
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate design studios and support students in preparation for professional careers in architecture
- Excellent written, oral, graphic, and technological communication skills
- Proficiency in architectural, graphic, and related design software
- Demonstrated experience in architectural/planning writing, publication, scholarship, exhibitions, conferences, and/or workshops
- Knowledge of architecture accreditation and assessment processes
- Demonstrated experience in project programming, design, and technical documentation
- Demonstrated ability to effectively teach and contribute to the academic and professional development of students
- Engagement with professional organizations and/or professional practice in architecture
- Criminal history check verification
Desired Qualifications
- Ph.D. in the field of Architecture
- Ten (10) years of architectural practice that includes a broad portfolio of work that demonstrates the ability to bring real world experiences to the classroom and studio
- Certifications in the US Green Building Council LEED program
