Job Summary
Teach introductory and advanced courses in Political Science while mentoring undergraduates and advising students in departmental programs. Conduct, present, and publish research within the discipline, develop an independent research program, and travel to attend conferences. Provide guidance to students, assist the Department Chair and Program Coordinators as needed, and support departmental documentation, assessment, and best practices. Attend monthly departmental and university meetings, participate in faculty committees, and recruit students through university-sponsored events. Begin Fall 2027 at Gardner-Webb University's main campus in Boiling Springs, NC.
Required Qualifications
- Terminal degree in Political Science
- Excellent undergraduate teaching and mentoring experience
- Willingness to conduct, present, and publish research in the discipline area
- Deep commitment to diversity and inclusion demonstrated through pedagogy, research, and/or public engagement
- Track record demonstrating exceptional organization, communication, collaboration, and interpersonal relations, and the ability to manage undergraduate programs effectively
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated commitment to Christian Higher Education
- Willingness to teach on campus (with some online courses permitted)
- Willingness to attend monthly departmental, university meetings
- Willingness to participate in faculty committees and the business of the university as required
- Willingness to participate in the recruitment of students through university-sponsored events
- Willingness to develop an independent research program and publish within their discipline
- Willingness to travel to attend conferences and meetings
- Willingness to assist the Department Chair and other Program Coordinators/Directors, as needed
