Assistant Professor of Legal Writing

Job Summary
The position is a full-time, non-tenured Faculty role in the College of Law, teaching Legal Research and Writing courses (LRW, ALW, Appellate Advocacy or other required legal writing classes), typically six credits per semester. Responsibilities include six hours per week of in-class instruction, maintaining regular office hours, detailed evaluation of student assignments, conducting multiple individual conferences, and being accessible by email for student questions. Faculty members also grade all assignments under the course curve and collaborate to prepare course materials aligned with established syllabi, while adhering to due dates. Additional administrative duties include attending Faculty and University meetings, participating in the College of Law graduation ceremony, and serving on law school committees as designated by the Dean.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school
- at least three years of prior experience as a practicing attorney or a judicial law clerk
- excellent academic record
- superior oral and written communication skills
- prior teaching experience in legal writing is highly desirable
