Job Summary
Teach undergraduate and non-major dance technique classes covering ballet, hip hop, jazz, modern, and tap, while delivering theory courses in composition, history, and movement analysis. Mentor students through the student dance concert, advise students, and contribute to general education wellness initiatives. Choreograph new work for dance majors annually and assist with musical staging for one musical theatre production per year. Engage in scholarly activities and service to the department, college, and university. Required Qualifications
- MFA in Dance
- Demonstrated expertise teaching jazz technique at all levels
- Demonstrated expertise teaching Hip Hop, House, Street, Latin styles or other related styles/genres
- Professional performance and/or choreographic experience
- Proven ability to work in a collaborative environment
- Employment authorization within the United States as required by the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986
Desired Qualifications
- Experience teaching at the university level and strong commitment to undergraduate teaching
- Previous university teaching experience in one of the following: dance composition, dance history, movement analysis, or teaching theories
- Interest in developing/updating curriculum in dance that embraces the current trajectory in the profession
- Interest in recruitment and strategic planning
- Experience with musical theatre choreography and staging
- Experience in Tap dance technique
