Job Summary

Engage in fellow and resident teaching, including precepting clinics, leading didactic lectures during inpatient rounding, and directing journal club topics. Participate in or initiate research projects, such as joining ongoing clinical trials, launching new trials through federal or industry channels, and mentoring fellows in research while submitting materials to national conferences and peer-reviewed journals. Provide patient care in adult gastroenterology and hepatology practices, which includes six-plus weeks of inpatient services, four to six weeks of annual call coverage, five half-day clinics weekly, and two to three half-days of endoscopy procedures. Fully participate in the liver transplant program with mandatory attendance at weekly meetings. This clinical academic mission position supports the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, West Chester Hospital, and the Cincinnati Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Required Qualifications

  • Medical Degree (MD or DO)
  • Completion of a 3-year Internal Medicine Residency
  • Completion of a 1-year Hepatology or Transplant Hepatology Fellowship
  • Ohio Medical License
  • Ability to engage in fellow and resident teaching, including precepting fellow clinics, leading resident and fellow didactic lectures as part of inpatient rounding, and leading journal club topics for fellows and residents
  • Ability to participate in or initiate research projects, including participating in ongoing clinical trials, initiating new clinical trials through federal or industry means, and mentoring fellows in clinical research projects and the submission of research materials to national conferences and peer reviewed journals
  • Ability to provide patient care in an adult gastroenterology practice, inclusive of 6+ weeks of inpatient services, 4-6 weeks annually of call coverage, and appropriate endoscopy time and outpatient clinical time
  • Ability to provide patient care in an adult hepatology practice work which includes 5 half-day clinics weekly, an equal share of inpatient coverage, and 2-3 half-days of endoscopy procedures
  • Ability to contribute to clinical care for liver transplant patients and general hepatology patients
  • Mandatory attendance at weekly transplant meetings
  • Ability to provide satisfactory proof of employment eligibility via the Federal I-9 employment verification process
  • Submission of official academic transcripts at the time of hire
