Assistant Professor of Clinical - Anesthesiology, Pain Management

Job Summary
Evaluate and treat patients with acute and chronic pain conditions, including cancer-related, spine, neuropathic, and musculoskeletal pain. Utilize treatment modalities such as medication management, interventional procedures, and referrals to physical therapy. Perform fluoroscopically and ultrasound-guided spine and peripheral procedures, including injections, radiofrequency ablations, nerve blocks, and management of implantable devices like spinal cord stimulators. Supervise residents, fellows, and ARNPs while maintaining independent clinical capability. Collaborate with multidisciplinary specialties including Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, and behavioral health. Participate in academic activities, teaching, mentoring, and departmental committees. Provide chronic outpatient pain services in clinics affiliated with the University of Miami Health System.
Required Qualifications
- completed an ACGME-accredited residency in Anesthesiology
- completed an ACGME-accredited fellowship in Pain Medicine
- Board Eligibility or Certification in Anesthesiology
- Board Eligibility or Certification for Added Qualification in Pain Medicine
- comfortable in evaluating and treating patients suffering from a wide variety of acute and chronic pain conditions
- Expertise in utilizing various treatment modalities, including medication management, interventional procedures, and referrals to physical therapy and other specialties
- comfortable and safe performing fluoroscopically guided and ultrasound-guided spine and peripheral procedures, such as spine and joint injections, radiofrequency ablations, peripheral nerve blocks, and interventional modalities with implantable devices such as spinal cord stimulators and intrathecal delivery systems
- comfortable supervising residents, Pain Medicine Fellows, and ARNPs
- comfortable seeing patients and performing procedures independently if required
- participate in the department's academic activities, including teaching and mentoring trainees, Outpatient Pain Job, and participating in departmental conferences, committees, and faculty meetings
