Job Summary
Assistant Professor in the Violence and Violence Prevention Group who will develop and teach courses across multiple programs (including the track on Violence, Interventions and Policing), teach quantitative methods and research design, conduct independent research on violence and policing, collaborate within ISGA, supervise theses, publish in high-quality journals, and write grant proposals. The role involves administrative and coordination tasks, contributing to educational practices at Bachelor’s and Master’s levels, and working in a multidisciplinary team in The Hague. Required are a PhD in a related field, a strong research-teaching profile, expertise in quantitative methods, and proficiency in Dutch and English (with Dutch language development supported if needed). The position offers a one-year contract with a view to permanent employment, hybrid working within the Netherlands, and a competitive salary with standard Dutch university benefits.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in criminology, sociology, psychology, or related discipline
- Demonstrable research experience in violence, violence prevention and/or policing
- Establised or developing publication record in relevant fields
- Experience in research-led teaching
- Demonstrable passion for education, in and out of the classroom
- Excellent command of quantitative research methods; knowledge of qualitative methods is a plus
- Ability to teach methods at undergraduate and graduate levels
- Near-native proficiency in Dutch and English (or willingness to master a C1 level of fluency in Dutch within two years, with funding provided)
