Job Summary
Assistant Professor in Applied Ethology leading an innovative research program in applied ethology with a 40/40/20 teaching/research/service split. Responsibilities include developing and leading research in animal behavior as it applies to farm/companion animals, designing housing and management systems, studying human-animal interactions and animal welfare, supervising graduate and undergraduate students, and teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in applied animal behavior and welfare. The role emphasizes collaboration with industry partners, government agencies, and other stakeholders to translate research into practical applications, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and contributing to a distinguished, internationally-recognized research program.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in Animal Science, Veterinary Science or related field with training in Applied Ethology
- Demonstrated excellence in research with high impact publication record
- Experience in securing research funding and managing research projects
- Commitment to teaching and mentorship at undergraduate and graduate levels
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with diverse audiences
- Ability to obtain extramural funding and attract graduate students; international recognition asset
