Job Summary
The Assistant Professor, Anatomy Basic Sciences will primarily teach human anatomy with flexibility to include neuroscience or physiology—online and in-person formats. Responsibilities include delivering lecture and laboratory instruction in anatomy and, when possible, physiology or neuroanatomy at graduate and undergraduate levels; designing differentiated, coherent learning activities aligned to instructional goals; collaborating with colleagues and departments to align curricula; mentoring students; contributing to scholarship and service toward promotion; and participating in departmental and university committees and trainings. Candidates should hold a doctoral degree in Anatomy or a closely related field, have at least two years of experience teaching human gross anatomy (graduate-level experience preferred), and be capable of teaching both in-person at the Oakland campus and online lectures and labs. The role is onsite in Oakland, CA, with an emphasis on teaching responsibilities (about 80%), service (about 10%), and scholarship (about 10%). Required Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in Anatomy or closely related discipline
- At least two years of experience teaching human gross anatomy; graduate level experience preferred
- Additional qualification to teach Neuroanatomy or Physiology at graduate level preferred
- Ability to teach in person at Oakland campus and/or online live
- Commitment to service, scholarship, and ongoing professional development
- Eligibility to perform duties in an exempt, full-time academic role
