Job Summary
The Assistant Produce Manager is responsible for directing and managing all functions and activities of the Produce Department, aiming to achieve sales and profit goals. Key responsibilities include localized merchandising planning, controlling inventory, managing department expenses, supervising personnel, and ensuring compliance with sanitation and safety standards. The role requires effective communication for maintaining good relationships with customers, employees, and vendors, as well as strong analytical skills for profitability management. A high school diploma and at least two years of experience as a produce clerk are required.
Required Qualifications
- High school education a minimum requirement
- At least two years experience as a produce clerk
- Ability to read and write to properly tag merchandise, order and maintain inventory and to ensure proper rotation of product
- Above average analytical skills to study and interpret various reports
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for dealing with customers, employees, and vendors
- Dexterity in hands to enable trimming and packaging of produce
- Ability to unload, transport, and place merchandise in their specific areas
- Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds up to fifty percent (50%) of the time
