Job Summary
Greet customers, answer inquiries and complaints, and explain store policies. Assist in hiring, firing, disciplining, and promoting department personnel while orienting and training new staff. Implement weekly display plans and supervise product placement to ensure full, color-contrasted displays with seasonal rotation. Manage vendor orders, check temperatures four times daily, and perform inventory counts. Handle receiving, code-dating, sorting, and storage of merchandise; prepare, trim, and package products for display. Execute safety procedures for equipment including pallet jacks and forklifts. Mark prices, process damaged goods, and perform miscellaneous tasks assigned by the store manager.
Required Qualifications
- Basic mathematical ability (add, subtract, multiply, divide) and ability to count.
- Able to give/receive complex verbal instructions/descriptions to/from supervisors/co-workers/employees concerning store/department policy/procedures and use of equipment.
- A stable work and educational history.
- The ability to read and write English. Demonstrate basic communication ability; able to comprehend instructions, merchandise labels, order codes, numbers, reports, printed paper invoices and order forms.
- Make judgments concerning: the placement of merchandise on the shelf/display, pricing, employee scheduling, order of product/supplies, hiring/supervision of employees, merchandising plans, departments operational policies and procedures and the sales/promotion of merchandise.
- Good interpersonal communications.
- Must be 18 years or older to operate the pallet jack, forklift and baler.
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior Produce Department experience.
- Prior supervisory experience.
