Job Summary
Manage the assigned Commodity portfolio in operational procurement to support global mills, with a focus on Indonesia and Malaysia. Lead the selection and management of external counterparties and internal stakeholders to ensure cost, quality, delivery, and reliability while achieving tactical and strategic goals. Analyze market conditions to turn data into actionable intelligence for sound purchasing decisions and execute better procurement strategies. Identify and qualify new vendors to meet customer quality requirements, and lead business development projects such as acquisitions and joint ventures to create long-term value. Monitor market conditions for timely purchasing decisions and provide regular market updates to senior management. Achieve assigned cost savings targets and oversee commodity purchases across all mills to develop strategies aligned with global objectives.
Required Qualifications
- Strategic management of commodity portfolio in operational procurement
- Prior hands-on experience in commercial trade/deal life cycle activities
- Commercial competence to lead business development projects (acquisitions, joint ventures)
- Proficiency in identifying, qualifying, and establishing new vendors
- Proficiency in analyzing markets and turning data into actionable market intelligence
- Effective and efficient communication with senior management and external counterparties from diverse global locations
- Ability to achieve assigned cost savings targets
- Ability to study and monitor market conditions for sound and timely purchasing decisions
- Global lead role in overseeing commodity purchases across all mills
- Ability to develop a commodity strategy aligned with global strategy
- Ability to provide regular market updates to senior management
