Job Summary
Assistant Principal for the Lincoln School provides educational leadership in a Center Program for students with disabilities, serving under the Principal to plan, coordinate and evaluate curriculum, instruction, assessment and student conduct; leads school improvement initiatives, monitors student progress through data analysis, ensures compliance with IDEA, MDE rules and Kent ISD policies; recruits and evaluates program staff; facilitates PBIS and professional learning; collaborates with families and community agencies to support post-secondary goals and vocational training opportunities; leverages technology to improve learning and communications; maintains strong two-way communication with parents and community, and upholds equity and inclusion across practices.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree with particular emphasis on administration, management, curriculum, and special education with preference given to individuals with previous administrative experience
- Valid Michigan teacher’s or professional certification or special education approval, Michigan Administrator’s endorsement (or willingness to obtain) and approval or eligibility for approval as Supervisor/Director (or willingness to obtain within three years) – Special Education by the Michigan Department of Education
- This position requires criminal background check as required by School Safety legislation
