Job Summary
Coordinate and implement School Board policies, supervise the instructional program, and evaluate teachers, counselors, and discipline coordinators. Prepare the instructional materials budget, review lesson plans, and manage student scheduling and attendance. Oversee extracurricular activities, transportation, and duty schedules while touring the school plant to monitor conditions. Assist in the Guidance Program, orient new teachers, and function as principal during absences. Compile test data to identify strengths and weaknesses, represent the system at public functions, and maintain personnel and student records. Work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree or higher
- Louisiana Certification in Administration and Supervision on level of assignment (Principalship Certificate)
- Three (3) years of successful teaching experience
- Teaching experience at level assigned
- Demonstrated ability to work with various groups
- Must understand and interpret written and verbal instructions from supervisor
- Must be cognizant of policy and procedures governing discipline and student services in the Jefferson Parish Public School System and their implementation
- Must be able to communicate in standard English both orally and in writing
- Must have ability to accurately give and receive information via tele-communication system
- Must be able to communicate successfully and pleasantly with the public
- Must be able to accurately compile and access data, summarize information, and provide written report to supervisor
- Must be able to represent school system at various public functions
- Must be able to operate office equipment
- Reaching, bending, lifting 10 pounds
- Physical restraint of another person or persons
- Ability to provide own transportation to school, work location, and meeting sites
- Mobility skills necessary to access a variety of work locations
- Must be able to work compatibly in group settings
- Must serve as a resource to administrators, faculty, staff, students, parents and community
- Must be able to respond positively to supervision and to accept suggestions to improvement
- Must be available for evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Must be able to attend meetings in various locations
Desired Qualifications
- Doctorate Degree
- Evidence of preparation for high school/middle/junior school program administration
- Successful school administrative experience
