Job Summary
Assistant Preschool Teacher under the guidance of the Program Coordinator and Head Teacher is responsible for direct supervision, teaching and safety of children, and for implementing developmentally appropriate programs. The role requires collaboration with a team, creating a warm, nurturing environment, and ensuring safety and well-being of each child while adhering to NYS OCFS licensing requirements and YMCA policies. The position includes mandatory health and safety screenings, regulatory compliance, and ongoing trainings to support program quality.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma
- Some experience working with children
- NYS Office of Children and Family Services Requirements: fingerprint and background screening within the first 30 days; SCR and SCL clearance
- Initial medical statement and tuberculin test prior to assignment
- Completion of trainings: Bloodborne Pathogens, Employee Safety and Youth Protection Series prior to assignment; Hazard Communication within 90 days; minimum 30 hours of training every two years with 15 hours in first six months
- CPR/MAT certification (if obtained, copy of card)
