Job Summary
Assist the classroom teacher in implementing daily lesson plans to support a developmentally appropriate curriculum while promoting social, cultural, educational, physical, and emotional growth. Greets parents and children, ensuring safety at all times, and interacts directly with the students. Performs housekeeping chores, makes and records observations of children, and changes and feeds them. Supervise outdoor play, manage handwashing and toileting routines, and swim with children during pool time. Maintain classroom and equipment standards in compliance with NAEYC and DEEC requirements. Attends staff meetings, family nights, and YMCA special events.
Required Qualifications
- Has knowledge of and maintains NAEYC and DEEC standards.
- At least 18 years of age or ability to obtain a worker permit.
- Must obtain, and keep current, certification in CPR, First Aid and Child Abuse Prevention.
- Is flexible to schedule changes.
- Attends and participates in family nights, staff meetings, staff training, and YMCA special events.
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
