Assistant Pre-Construction / Estimator - Commercial Construction

Job Summary
Prepare schematic, design development, and CD phase estimates using On-screen Takeoff software. Review proposal specifications, drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to understand scope. Prepare, issue, and review supplier and trade partner proposals while acting as a cost resource for Project Management. Participate in onsite meetings with clients, owners, staff, and trade partners to maintain positive relationships. Assist the Preconstruction Manager with Design Assist projects, bid strategy meetings, and value management exercises. Aid in the bidding and buyout process, including reviewing trade partner bids and providing clear scopes of work. Deliver estimates on time while complying with the company's Code of Ethics.
Required Qualifications
- Must ensure a solid understanding of and comply with the principles of the company's Code of Ethics
- Deliver estimates on time
- Maintain positive relationships with trade partners, vendors, architects, and engineers
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
- On-Screen Take off or similar take-off software
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- A bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field
- Construction Management degree
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in preconstruction/estimating or related roles
Desired Qualifications
- Preferred (but not required) background of 2 years of preconstruction and/or estimating experience
- A Construction Management degree is desired but not required
