Job Summary
Licensed attorney in Kansas sought for Assistant or Senior Attorney in City of Topeka Civil Litigation. Responsibilities include representing the City in arbitrations, administrative proceedings and civil litigation; investigate, evaluate and manage tort claims; assist with and/or provide training to City departments on tort claim and discovery response. Ideal candidates have civil litigation experience, strong discovery, brief writing and oral argument skills, and the ability to explain statutes and policies clearly. Minimum qualifications include a JD, Kansas license, and CJIS background check. Assistant salary range $65,781–$71,000; Senior salary range $96,309–$106,000; comprehensive benefits package offered.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school is required
- Must be licensed to practice law in the state of Kansas
- Must pass an extensive background check, including CJIS background check
- Two years of experience in the legal profession as a licensed attorney or intern is preferred for Assistant Attorney; at least five years of professional law experience with supervisory experience preferred for Senior Attorney
