Job Summary

Open search for Assistant or Associate Professor in Marketing at the University of Guelph's Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics. The successful candidate will conduct rigorous research and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in marketing, contribute to the growth of graduate programs, and engage with external stakeholders including firms, policymakers, and communities. Areas of interest include consumer behaviour, sustainability and marketing, digital transformation, new product development and innovation, marketing strategy and channel management, retail transformation, public policy and marketing, and societal transformation and well-being. Candidates should demonstrate potential for externally funded research and a strong teaching record or potential, with responsibilities spanning research, teaching, course development, and mentorship of students. Rank will be Assistant (tenure-track) or Associate (tenured) depending on qualifications and experience; a Ph.D. in Marketing or closely related field is required, with preference for applicants who can contribute to department and program development and engage with external stakeholders. The position starts flexibly, with application materials including a CV, research statement, teaching statement, publications or working papers, and optional video statement. Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Marketing or a closely related field (or in final stages of completing doctoral studies)
  • Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in marketing and related areas (e.g., introductory marketing, consumer behaviour, experimental designs in consumer research, marketing strategy, digital marketing, social media marketing, marketing analytics, sustainability and marketing, innovation and new product development)
  • Evidence of research excellence and publication in leading marketing and business journals (for Assistant Professor: potential to build a strong research reputation; for Associate Professor: established record and leadership)
  • Demonstrated potential for external research funding and grants
  • Commitment to supervising and supporting graduate students and engaging with external stakeholders including firms, community organizations, policymakers, industry partners, and research collaborators
  • Strong teaching effectiveness, innovation, or teaching awards are desirable
  • Ph.D. holders or candidates expected to contribute to the Department’s strategic priorities and program development
