Job Summary
Assistant Operations Manager to oversee 2nd shift at a Westport, MA scrap metal recycling facility. Responsible for daily yard operations, ELV processing, shredder support, material flow, safety initiatives, and environmental compliance. Works with operations leadership, production teams, maintenance, and EHS to drive efficiency, throughput, and safe processing. Key duties include supervising daily operations, coordinating production priorities, monitoring throughput and bottlenecks, supervising shredder feed and downstream processing, stepping in during absences, ensuring PPE usage and safe equipment operation, supporting safety meetings, audits, incident investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborating on environmental compliance such as ELV depollution, fluid removal, stormwater management, and scrap containment.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience within scrap metal recycling, metal processing, salvage operations, heavy industrial manufacturing, or recycling facility operations
- Prior supervisory, lead, or operations oversight experience within a scrap yard, recycling facility, shredder operation, ELV processing environment, or similar heavy industrial setting is required
- Experience coordinating production priorities, managing operational workflows, and supporting throughput goals within a high-volume industrial environment
- Must be able to work 2nd shift hours (11:00 AM – 7:00 PM) and have Saturday availability
