Job Summary

Lead day-to-day clinical and operational leadership for the Women's & Children's Service Line, managing a 12-bed Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum unit and a 9-bed Medical-Surgical Pediatric unit. Assist with unit operations including patient flow, staffing assignments, acuity-based scheduling, and resource allocation across Labor & Delivery, Mother-Baby, Nursery, and Pediatric Med-Surg. Collaborate with charge nurses, providers, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care while coaching, mentoring, and providing performance feedback to RNs, LPNs, and support staff. Support recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, and retention initiatives, alongside leading quality improvement projects and regulatory readiness audits. Serve as a communication liaison between frontline staff and nursing leadership, addressing patient concerns with professionalism and ensuring compliance with hospital policies and accreditation standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong clinical expertise in Perinatal nursing and/or Med-Surg/Pediatrics
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of acute care nursing experience
  • Labor and Delivery experience
  • Postpartum/Mother-Baby experience
  • Newborn/Nursery care experience
  • Pediatrics or Med-Surg experience
  • Demonstrated leadership experience (charge nurse, preceptor, clinical team lead, or supervisor role)
  • Leadership skills and staff engagement
  • Critical thinking
  • Ability to manage crisis situations effectively
  • Proven ability to provide excellent customer service to patients, team members, and visitors
  • Knowledge and experience with electronic health records
  • BLS certification
  • ACLS certification
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
  • STABLE certification
  • State of Delaware RN license
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

  • Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certification
