Job Summary
Provide clinical leadership and manage a Med Surg/Tele 3N shift, ensuring appropriate staffing, skill mix, and fiscal responsibility. Collaborate with the Nurse Manager on hiring, interviewing, onboarding, and evaluating staff performance. Coordinate care delivery and staff assignments based on patient needs and clinical competency. Monitor attendance, assist with scheduling and payroll, and maintain accreditation and regulatory standards. Provide direct patient care as needed and communicate critical patient safety or risk management issues to leadership. Support staff development through mentoring, coaching, and progressive discipline while fostering a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Participate in nursing research, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice initiatives to drive practice changes. Exercise independent judgment in disciplinary actions and time-off approvals.
Required Qualifications
- Current Registered Professional Nurse licensure in New York State
- Baccalaureate degree in Nursing
- 2 Years experience
- Certification in nursing leadership
- Ability to apply nursing process toward achievement of specific outcomes in an organized fashion to address patient/family satisfaction and quality indicators
- Evidence of excellent communication (both oral and written), interpersonal, organization, critical thinking, problem solving, and leadership skills
- Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association
- Physical stamina, manual, dexterity, visual and aural acuity to perform responsibilities
- Ability to handle and move reasonably heavy weight
- Registered Nurse License-NYS
- Basic Life Support Cert
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree in nursing or health-related area
- Two or more years of clinical practice in the care of the patient population served
