Job Summary
Implement daily Emergency Department operations by aligning staffing and resources to patient acuity, trauma volume, and throughput demands. Monitor triage effectiveness, EMS intake coordination, and trauma activation processes while supervising nursing staff, coaching teams, and assisting with performance evaluations. Support recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding of emergency nursing staff. Ensure compliance with EMTALA, trauma standards, and regulatory requirements. Promote evidence-based emergency and trauma nursing practice and support quality initiatives related to sepsis, stroke, STEMI, and trauma outcomes. Facilitate communication between nursing staff, trauma surgeons, emergency physicians, EMS, pharmacy, and hospital leadership. Address operational or clinical issues impacting emergent care delivery in real time and report significant events, near misses, and patient safety concerns appropriately. Night shift (Monday–Friday) with availability for evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the District of Columbia
- Minimum one (1) year supervisory or leadership experience
- Current BLS certification
- ACLS certification
- PALS certification
- Schedule: Night Shift (Monday–Friday); must be available for evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as operational needs require
Desired Qualifications
- Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing preferred; must obtain BSN within three (3) years of assuming ANM position if not already obtained
- Minimum two (2) years clinical experience in Emergency Nursing preferred
- Experience in trauma or high-acuity emergency settings strongly preferred
- National specialty certification (CEN preferred) within one (1) year of hire
- Demonstrated leadership, emotional intelligence, and conflict resolution skills
- Strong knowledge of emergency care standards, trauma protocols, and patient safety regulations
