Job Summary
Administer agency medical, clinical, and behavioral health services programs and operations within a hospital division. Assist in developing, implementing, and evaluating policies, goals, objectives, and medical service standards. Determine appropriate staffing levels, manage staff coordination, and implement performance review standards. Lead recruitment and hiring, including outreach, interviews, and selection. Maintain contact with internal and external stakeholders impacting programs. Administer state and federal regulations for medical and psychiatric care. Participate on committees, boards, and accreditation activities. Serve as a liaison with external medical, behavioral health planning groups, courts, and state agencies. Monitor vendor contracts and participate in quality assurance studies. Develop processes to improve patient care quality and cost. Testify in court and conduct training as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in a hospital, clinic or correctional facility as a board certified physician
- License to practice medicine and surgery in Connecticut
- Certification as a specialist in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology OR certification in the field of internal medicine, family medicine or related specialty, from an appropriate specialist board
- Eligibility for participation in federal health care programs as defined in 42 U.S. 1320a-7b(f)
Desired Qualifications
- Certification as a specialist in addictions medicine from the American Society for Addiction Medicine (ASAM)
- Certification as a specialist in an area such as geriatrics, ABI/TBI, forensics, substance abuse, etc.
- Faculty appointment at either the Yale School of Medicine or the UConn School of Medicine
- Appropriate current licenses, certifications or permits
- Bilingual
