Assistant Manager RN Oncology & Telemetry Pediatric

Job Summary

Supervise and oversee all nursing activities and patient care in an inpatient Oncology and Telemetry setting, including pediatric populations. Conduct daily rounds with staff and patients to ensure accurate, timely assignments and appropriate care delivery. Establish work priorities, resolve operational issues, and enforce adherence to departmental, system, and The Joint Commission standards. Lead continuous improvement efforts using Lean methods, streamline workflows, and identify corrective actions for non-compliance or vulnerabilities. Manage staffing, monitor labor costs, and assist in meeting financial targets while developing work schedules and approving timekeeping records. Provide clinical direction for issue resolution, evaluate staff performance, and facilitate training and orientation plans. Respond to escalated issues, emergencies, and after-hours calls as needed, and may assume manager responsibilities during absence.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • RN-Registered Nurse of California
  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
  • ACLS-Advanced Cardiac Life Support
  • 5 years recent relevant experience
  • Solid understanding of operations and workflows and how department's process/workflow impacts other flows or departments
  • Knowledge and understanding of applicable local, state, federal and other health care laws, regulations and requirements – e.g., TJC, Medi-Cal, Medicare
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including team building, and coaching/mentoring with the ability to motivate and engage others
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve technical and operational issues problems as guided by policies, and procedures, or guidance from leadership
  • Ability to build and establish effective working partnership with employees, peers and/or leaders to achieve business objectives
  • Understands age specific needs in providing care to patient population served
  • Demonstrates ability to handle confidential and sensitive issues
  • Verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle difficult circumstances and make sound business decisions with little direction
  • Demonstrates ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment with changing business priorities
  • Demonstrates organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects while delivering quality service/achieving business results

  • Ability to use essential software and applications associated with the role's duties and responsibilities
  • Must be available for Evening/Night shifts
  • Monday - Friday schedule
