Job Summary
Assistant Manager- Process Engineering leads continuous improvement in Production, overseeing process validations, supervising operations staff, and coordinating manufacturing activities to ensure quality, efficiency, and safety. Responsibilities include setting priorities, analyzing data to optimize processes, developing and evaluating personnel, ensuring compliance with safety, environment, and regulatory standards (OSHA, cGMP, MOC, ISO 9000/1400), leading Lean and RCA-based improvements, collaborating with QA, marketing, and R&D, developing batch records and work instructions, and participating in capital projects and cross-functional teams to drive OEE improvements and waste reduction. Requires a BE in Chemical Engineering or Diploma in Chemical Engineering (or equivalent), 5-6 years of production experience in chemical manufacturing (solvent handling preferred), knowledge of chemistry and process engineering, distillation and separation technologies, SPC, RCA, process validation, and strong communication and leadership skills.
Required Qualifications
- B.E Chemical Engineering or Diploma in Chemical Engineering (or equivalent)
- 5-6 years of experience in production in Chemical manufacturing (preferably solvent handling)
- Knowledge of chemistry and chemical engineering
- Experience with separation technologies, distillation, purification, unit operations and process improvements
- Familiarity with financial/cost systems and SOPs/processes
- Analytical skills to quantify results and adjust processes
- Knowledge of inorganic chemistry, Lean Principles, SPC, root cause analysis
- Understanding of process and mechanical drawings and TQ concepts/tools
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, teamwork, innovation, and time management abilities
- Experience with safety/risk management (HAZOP, OSHA, cGMP) and quality assurance
- Ability to develop batch production records and work instructions
- Experience coordinating with plant engineering, R&D and marketing
- ISO 9000/1400 and regulatory compliance knowledge
- Training and supervision of operators/executives
- Capability to manage capital projects and participate in cross-functional teams
- Knowledge of waste reduction and cost-saving initiatives
