Job Summary
Provide legal advice and ongoing support to Business Units on complex tasks, managing litigation, conveyancing, and commercial transactions. Monitor external counsel updates, assess risks for pending claims, and represent the company in court, mediations, and tribunals. Prepare and review contracts, negotiate terms, and handle internal conveyancing matters like transfers and leases. Support investigations into fraud, misconduct, and disciplinary issues by conducting witness interviews and preparing statements. Identify legal trends and report on operational impacts. Requires a Bachelor of Laws, Certificate of Legal Education, and two years of practicing experience in litigation and banking. Submit applications via the career portal by August 21, 2026.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Laws Degree from a recognized tertiary institution
- Certificate of Legal Education
- Admission to practise at the Jamaican Bar
- A minimum of two (2) years' working experience as a Practising Attorney, particularly in the areas of conveyancing, debt collection, litigation, banking, investments and commercial work
- Sound knowledge of computer software packages such as word processing and spreadsheet applications
- Sound knowledge of commercial law, litigation and conveyancing law and practice
- Sound knowledge of the Insurance Act, Banking Services Act, Companies Act, Income Tax Law, Financial Services Commission Act, Securities Act, the Pensions Act, General Consumption Tax Act, Proceeds of Crime Act, The Registration of Titles Act, The Registration (Strata Titles) Act, Data Protection Act and other relevant laws governing the operations of the Company and subsidiaries
