Job Summary
Assist the Landscape Manager with contract area field inspections, enforcement, and day-to-day operations including staff and contractor scheduling. Ensure District-owned landscape properties meet highest quality horticultural standards by overseeing field design, renovations, and turnover procedures for newly acquired properties. Manage project goals, budgets, and continuous department planning through regular communication with supervisors and contractors while interpreting safety policies and compliance requirements. Prepare budgets for landscape replacements and renovations, monitor contract addendums, and coordinate maintenance across all District areas. Act as a liaison between departments and contractors, providing consultation on tree-related issues when the manager is absent.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's Degree or equivalent
- more than 10 years related experience and/or training
- equivalent combination of education and experience
- Valid Florida Driver's License
- ISA Arborist Certification
- FEMA (ICS) certifications
- working knowledge of landscape installation methods and techniques
- comprehensive knowledge of the practices and techniques of landscape construction, agronomy, and/or landscape maintenance
- knowledge of plant life as applied to ornamental horticulture
- knowledge of plant materials, planting techniques, erosion control, and pesticides
- working knowledge of landscape design and construction work
- Proficient personal computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft package involving Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and Power Point
- Thorough knowledge of and skill in the operation and proper care of assigned hand and power tools and equipment
- The ability to plan and program assigned projects and to organize and lead the work of assigned grounds personnel
- Ability to successfully read and comprehend materials such as memos, correspondence and written orders
- Ability to successfully communicate thoughts and ideas in a logical, cohesive and comprehensible manner
- Ability to successfully interact with others to include courtesy, tact and diplomacy
- Proven ability to provide excellent customer service to our residents
