Job Summary
The role supports the General Manager in operating the property, supervising on-site staff, and ensuring well-run, compliant building operations. Responsibilities include conducting new resident lease orientations and income certifications, performing background checks, interviewing prospective residents, managing initial and recertification of tenants’ income, maintaining lease and financial records, coordinating maintenance, inspecting units, handling tenant relations, submitting reports, and collaborating with internal/external partners. The Assistant Manager also supervises desk clerks, manages rent collection, and assists with special projects and administrative tasks, while providing leadership in the General Manager’s absence and ensuring professional on-site operations for a subsidized-housing setting.
Required Qualifications
- 6 month-1 year Experience in affordable programs completing Income Certifications
- Minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience
- Associate degree, certificate of completion from a trade school and/or one or more years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Certified HUD, Tax Credit Specialist, Low Income Tax Credit (LIHTIC) designations and/or equivalents is a plus
- Knowledge of Section 8 Housing Assistance Program practices and principles
- Prior experience working in affordable housing, nonprofit residential property management
- Property Management Software (Yardi, Boston Post, OneSite) knowledge a plus
- Knowledge of budget management and facilities issues
- Knowledge of building systems, property management, and housing quality standards
- Certification or knowledge of high-rise fire safety guidelines
- Knowledge and experience with TRACS software (HUD building)
- Experience/Familiarity with the Tenderloin Neighborhood
- Experience in conflict resolution, crisis intervention, resident relations
- Knowledge of substance abuse and homelessness issues
- Ability in a language other than English (e.g. Spanish, Chinese, Tagalog)
