Assistant Management Accountant

Job Summary
Manage ERP inventory processes, complete month-end inventory reconciliations, and post adjustment journals. Perform cost of sales and production variance analysis, produce labour utilisation reports, and assist in preparing monthly management accounts, budgets, and forecasts. Support statutory audit requirements, prepare VAT returns, and ensure compliance with internal financial controls and HMRC regulations. This role supports the finance function within a manufacturing environment, offering an opportunity to develop management accounting skills toward a professional qualification such as CIMA or ACCA. Candidates must be AAT qualified or studying toward it, with strong analytical skills and advanced Excel proficiency.
Required Qualifications
- AAT qualified
- currently studying towards an AAT qualification
- Sound understanding of accounting principles, processes, and financial controls
- Experience supporting management accounting activities
- ideally within a manufacturing environment
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret, evaluate, and present financial information clearly and concisely with a high level of accuracy
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- strong general IT proficiency
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently deliver work to agreed deadlines
- Candidates must be able to work in the UK without restrictions in accordance with UK National Law
- be prepared to successfully undertake an appropriate level of UK National Security Vetting according to UK Government National Security Vetting criteria
Desired Qualifications
- Ambition to progress towards a professional accounting qualification such as CIMA or ACCA
- Experience using ERP systems within a manufacturing or production environment
- Knowledge of inventory accounting, standard costing, and variance analysis
