Job Summary
Assistant Maintenance Manager at a multifamily community in Suffolk, VA. Oversees maintenance staff in the absence of the Service Manager, performing a wide range of mechanical and construction tasks including HVAC, plumbing, painting, drywall, tile, carpentry, welding, and electrical repairs. Responds to service calls, conducts preventative maintenance on mechanical and lawn care equipment, and supervises on-site maintenance activities to keep the property clean, safe, and attractive for residents. Requires English literacy, EPA/HVAC certificates, Fair Housing certification, and a valid driver’s license; may be required to respond to after-hours emergency calls. Full-time, non-exempt with benefits and potential for shift/after-hours coverage.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to read and write English
- Prior experience reflecting overall general mechanical aptitude and ability
- EPA Certificate for Freon Recovery; HVAC Certificate
- Current Fair Housing Certification
- Valid Driver’s License (if operating a vehicle)
