Job Summary
Assistant Maintenance Manager responsible for the maintenance leadership of technicians and assets in a 24/7 food-processing facility. Defines maintenance policies for preventive, predictive, corrective tasks and new installations; plans resources (people, spare parts, contractors, systems); supervises processes, people and equipment to achieve higher productivity, OEEs, yields, and production volume at minimum cost while complying with EH&S, HACCP and GMP requirements. Manages maintenance requirements to align with department goals and KPIs, supports systems such as HVAC, fire suppression, steam generation and distribution, lighting and electrical infrastructure; oversees budgeting, spare parts policy, and continuous improvement initiatives; leads a team with strong emphasis on safety, quality, cost control, and regulatory compliance (FDA/USDA). Must have strong leadership, budgeting, problem solving, and communication skills, with experience in the food industry and IQF/frozen products. This role reports to the central Maintenance Manager and collaborates with various internal customers (Production, QA, Sanitation, R&D, Administration, Distribution & Logistics). Required Qualifications
- College degree preferred – B.S. industrial/mechanical/electrical engineering
- 5-10 years experience as a Maintenance Supervisor and/or Maintenance Manager in the food industry with a minimum of 4 years supervisory experience preferred
- Strong technical background with experience in processing IQF & frozen food products
- Leadership in process control and strong mechanical knowledge of processing, packaging and warehousing equipment
- Strong knowledge of FDA/USDA regulations, particularly frozen regulations
- Profound knowledge of maintenance IT systems CMMS as SAP module or similar (Maximo, ...)
- Technical skills to perform in area of specialty (mechanical, electrical, control) and maintenance management
- Understands Lean Manufacturing principles and practices
- Must be able to withstand working in an overall temperature range of -40F to +100F
- Knowledge and understanding of GFSI requirements
- Effective written and spoken communication and reporting
- Knowledge and use of all company software applications and automated systems
- Care and use of required personal protection equipment
