Assistant Lawyer (L&CL Regions)

Job Summary
Independently handle a caseload from start to finish, including reviewing documents, preparing draft advices, and crafting bespoke coverage opinions for complex property damage and insurance claims. Support a lead lawyer on high-value cases by conducting thorough investigations, performing legal research, and drafting instructions to counsel and experts. Engage in settlement negotiations, attend client meetings and strategy discussions, and ensure compliance with SRA Standards. Draft applications and court proceedings while managing all aspects of litigation processes. The role requires a Solicitor/FILEX with experience in defendant property insurance claims, based in Bolton or Bristol with 35 hours per week.
Required Qualifications
- Legal Qualification: Solicitor/FILEX
- Previous defendant property insurance claims experience
- Thorough understanding of disputes and claims handled by the department and our insurer clients
- Familiarity with insurance coverage disputes, legal liability and causation including claim for breach of contract and in negligence and nuisance
- Strong ability to manage and prioritize workload effectively
- Keen eye for detail in all tasks
- Comfortable working with case management systems
- Excellent interpersonal skills for liaising with senior claims handlers and managing major litigation
- Minimum of one day per week in the office
