Job Summary
Assistant Laser Operator who operates the Laser Machining Center, interprets engineering drawings and BOMs to ensure flat layouts yield the desired sheet metal components, loads/unloads parts, and performs hand and machine-assisted fabrication and assembly of industrial bakery machinery. Responsibilities include optimizing material usage in pattern layouts, selecting appropriate sheet metal gauge, maintaining quality through inspections with gauges, using hand/power tools for deburring and assembly, cleaning equipment, and maintaining production/quality records. Requires experience reading engineering drawings, CNC/MIG/TIG/spot welding, and proficiency with measurement instruments, along with adherence to health, safety, and operating procedures.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience; vocational technical training in sheet metal fabrication or laser operation.
- Usually three years of industrial sheet metal experience including general machinist skills, CNC experience, MIG/TIG and spot welding experience.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering designs, drawings, and weld symbols; knowledge of sheet metal gauge thickness system; ability to MIG/TIG/spot weld components.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English; effective communication with management and staff.
- Mathematical proficiency (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, trigonometry, geometry, percent, ratios).
- Ability to measure products to less than 0.001 inch with precise gauges.
