Assistant HS Baseball Coach

Job Summary
Coach individual participants in baseball skills, plan and schedule regular practice programs, and supervise student athletes during all school-sanctioned practices and events to ensure safety and appropriate behavior. Work closely with the Activities Director to schedule intramural and interscholastic contests, enforce discipline and sportsmanlike behavior, and oversee facility safety conditions. Maintain attendance forms, insurance records, and similar paperwork while recommending equipment purchases. Travel to competitor attendance centers by school bus or personal vehicle, working outdoors in varying weather conditions with hours that vary within the season.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Iowa Coaching Authorization or Athletic Coach Endorsement
- Completion of Child Abuse Reporting Training
- CPR and first aid certified
- Able to communicate effectively via a telephone and email in a clear, precise manner
- Able to write and record reports utilizing basic computer functions
- Able to climb stairs or stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Able to sit, reach, carry, push, bend body at waist, bend both knees, twist, and stoop while handling items
- Able to read and interpret policies, procedures and employee handbook
- Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds using proper lifting techniques
- Able to hear and speak in order to communicate with students, parents, co-workers, and supervisors
- Will be required to ride a school bus or drive school vehicles to carry out responsibilities of the position
- Required to work outdoors for periods of time if necessary for sport or training
- Daily and weekly work hours will vary within season
Desired Qualifications
- Prior coaching experience preferred
