Job Summary
Directs and oversees custodial staff, instructing them on equipment, chemicals, and materials while training new hires. Manages building operations by opening and closing facilities, controlling temperature, and performing a portion of cleaning duties. Assists in developing work schedules, inspects building conditions for reports to supervisors, and directs minor repairs involving mechanical, electrical, or carpentry tasks. Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment, ensuring a safe and clean environment for students and teachers. Requires 2 to 5 years of custodial experience and reports to the Head Custodian.
Required Qualifications
- 2 to 5 years' experience as a custodian
- Directs and oversees responsibilities for other custodians
- Has responsibility for opening and closing the building
- Controlling the temperature in the building
- General cleanliness of the building
- Instructing custodial staff in the use of equipment, chemicals, and materials
- Responsible for training their building custodial staff
- Assist in developing work and time schedules for custodians
- Assume responsibility for care and condition of equipment
- Assume responsibility for ordering and maintaining an inventory of custodian and housekeeping supplies and materials
- Perform inspections of building conditions
- Assume responsibility for directing minor building repairs – (mechanical, electrical, carpentry or other)
- Responsible for cleaning a portion of the building
- Maintain emotional control under stress
- Occasional prolonged or irregular hours
