Job Summary

Conduct daily classroom operations by implementing individualized goals, supervising lunch periods, and assisting with activities of daily living for participants requiring total support. Monitor progress through data collection, provide behavioral interventions using approved techniques, and ensure the unit remains clean, safe, and stimulating. Enter person served data into the electronic system, complete required paperwork independently when directed, and participate in medical or psychiatric appointments as needed. Maintain confidentiality and display proficiency in CPR, First Aid, and SCIP interventions while physically interacting with individuals to support their independence and growth.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Must successfully complete and perform all techniques required in AMAP, SCIP, CPR, and First Aid
  • Must be able to physically interact with the program individuals
  • Must be able to negotiate the environment independently
  • Must be able to assist in all SCIP interventions
  • Must be able to perform emergency CPR
  • Must be able to perform AMAP
  • Must be able to perform first aid techniques
  • Must be able to perform fire drills
  • Must maintain Confidentiality at all times
  • Must have an understanding of all paperwork required
  • Must be able to complete all paperwork in the absence of the Habilitation Specialist
  • Must be able to enter person served data documentation in the electronic data system
  • Must be able to ensure that the unit is clean, safe, stimulating, and appropriately decorated at all times
  • Must be able to supervise participant's lunch periods
  • Must be able to feed participants
  • Must be able to assist in the unwrapping of food items
  • Must be able to open containers
  • Must be able to provide verbal and physical support
  • Must be able to provide behavioral interventions when necessary
  • Must be able to follow the least restrictive OPWDD approved techniques
  • Must be able to implement goals designed to maximize each participant's level of independence
  • Must be able to monitor participants' progress by collecting and documenting performance data
  • Must be able to implement the established activity schedule for each consumer
  • Must be able to serve as a positive role model for participants in a variety of program and community settings
  • Must be able to ensure that all unit activities enhance and support each person's social responsibility, independence, dignity, and continued growth
