Job Summary
Oversee daily grocery department operations by modeling Earth Fare's mission, adhering to standard operating procedures, and ensuring a clean, safe work environment. Support the Grocery Team Leader in managing financial goals including gross profit, shrink, and sales while conducting monthly inventory and monitoring movement reports. Interview, train, and develop future leaders across Grocery, Frozen Food, Dairy, and Bulk departments to maintain an attractive sales floor and operational efficiency. Review daily sales data, order deliveries, and manage shift coverage to reduce expenses and uphold food safety standards. This developmental role prepares candidates for full department leadership within Earth Fare's natural foods industry.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of produce and natural foods industry trends
- Knowledge of common allergies and specialized dietary terms such as gluten free, vegan, and vegetarian
- Understanding of food safety, sanitation, and proper storage and display of organic products
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel and Outlook
- Ability to learn and use handheld computer scanners
- Proven experience managing shrink, sales, gross profit, and department overhead
- Minimum of two to three years experience with produce and natural or organic products
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Frequent reaching above shoulder level and below waist level
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to push and pull carts or pallet jacks with moderate loads
Desired Qualifications
- Perishable experience and OSHA or ServSafe certification preferred
