Job Summary
Assist the Head Golf Professional in all facets of golf operations, including golf shop merchandising, tournament operations, instruction, and member relations. Plan, promote and direct golf activities; oversee scheduling and training of outside staff; assist in certification processes for staff; reserve tee times, monitor play, and administer the handicap program. Develop and manage member tournaments and instructional programs; provide golf lessons and clinics; welcome members and guests; participate in golf with members of all skill levels; oversee practice facilities and golf-related assets; assist in merchandise/equipment support; represent the club at professional events; operate golf operations in the Head Professional’s absence; undertake special projects; assist in hiring/training staff and provide termination recommendations for hourly staff. Background includes a Bachelor’s degree preferred with PGA Class A or Level 3 PGA Management, 2+ years’ experience as an Assistant Golf Professional at private/resort facilities, proficiency with Word/Excel/POS/inventory/tournament programs, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred with PGA Class A membership or registered in level 3 in the PGA Professional Golf Management Program
- Minimum of 2 years of Assistant Golf Professional experience with experience at private or resort facility
- Proficient in computer applications including Word, Excel, POS and inventory control systems, tournament programs, and Microsoft Outlook
- Excellent communication/relational skills, an outgoing personality, professional appearance, and passion and enthusiasm for the business
- Ability to work flexible hours to include nights, weekends, and holidays
