Job Summary
Assist with the supervision of practice sessions and games to develop sports skills and sportsmanship with student athletes while ensuring their safety and proper equipment. Monitor all school-sanctioned events, communicate expectations regarding practice schedules, academic performance, and sportsmanship, and manage equipment inventory and security. Oversee locker room supervision, extra practices, and camps while adhering to Wyoming High School Activities Association and Laramie County School District 1 guidelines. Report student injuries and safety concerns to the head coach and emergency medical services as needed. Maintain honesty and integrity in all decisions while attending mandatory trainings to stay updated on sport trends and requirements.
Required Qualifications
- CPR/First Aid
- Theory of Coaching
- Care of Sports Injuries
- valid coaching certificate issued through the Professional Teaching Standards Board
- Wyoming Professional Standard of Teaching Board (PTSB) head coaching endorsement, permit, or transitional permit
- High School diploma or equivalent
- expertise in the fundamental skills, rules, and schemes pertaining to the sport
- Ability to effectively communicate and demonstrate sportsmanship with all athletes, officials, parents, and community members
- Comprehensive knowledge of the sport
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job
- Ability to maintain honesty and integrity in all aspects of the job
- Ability and willingness to adhere to attendance requirements, including regular and punctual employee presence
- Ability to promote and follow Board of Trustees policies, District policies, and building and department procedures
- Ability to communicate, interact, and work effectively and cooperatively with all people including those from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds
- Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate/required safety equipment, and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator
- Knowledge of sport equipment to provide proper maintenance and storage
- Knowledge of sport equipment to ensure proper use and safety of student athletes
