Job Summary
Prioritize athletics as a supplemental program to support the academic mission while carrying out the Athletic Director's aims and objectives. Instruct athletes in individual and team fundamentals, strategy, and physical conditioning necessary for success. Assist in scheduling intramural and interscholastic contests and planning regular seasonal practice programs. Maintain attendance and insurance records, oversee safety conditions during student athlete presence, and establish academic eligibility criteria. Enforce code of conduct standards and sportsmanlike behavior, recommending equipment purchases as appropriate. Perform other related tasks assigned by the Athletic Director, Principal, or Superintendent.
Required Qualifications
- Previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport
- Knowledge and/or background in the assigned sport
- Must be able to pass criminal background check
- Valid drivers license
- Must have knowledge of South Carolina High School League rules and eligibility
- Must be cooperative, service-oriented, and able to work effectively with frequent interruptions
- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills
- Must have the ability to exercise good judgment, organize tasks, follow written and verbal directions, and communicate effectively
- Must have the physical and mental ability to fulfill the essential functions of the above position with or without reasonable accommodation(s)
Desired Qualifications
- Teaching certificate and experience preferred
