Job Summary
Assistant General Manager of Hospital Operations at Rocky Gorge Animal Hospital (Laurel, MD) oversees hospital operations, supports rollout of NVA programs, and acts as liaison between the NVA Support Center and the veterinary practice. Partners with Managing Veterinarian to drive revenue, manage costs, and foster a culture of high-quality patient care and customer service. Responsibilities include staff scheduling, analyzing operational reports, implementing NVA initiatives, overseeing benefits and insurance, ensuring DEA/OSHA and policy compliance, training hospital leadership, budget preparation, and driving regional strategy and client relations. Strong emphasis on analytics, problem-solving, communication, leadership of 75+ staff, P&L accountability, and travel to division/NVA meetings.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, operations management or related field (MBA or master's level business education is a plus)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in operations management
- Experience developing and leading teams of 75+ with multiple layers of employees
- Experience and proven track record in managing a P&L with revenue of $10M+
- Expert knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics
- Audible financial analysis skills related to EBITDA, revenue, and cost drivers
- Ability to travel as necessary to division and NVA meetings
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in written form
- Experience leading a site through a renovation or relocation is a plus
- Experience developing long-term business strategies and ensuring policies are applied fairly and consistently
