Job Summary
The Assistant General Manager oversees hotel operations and supports the General Manager to maximize efficiency and guest/owner satisfaction. Responsibilities include supervising department heads, assisting with hiring, training, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions; handling guest concerns and service recovery; monitoring guest feedback (TripAdvisor, OTAs, surveys) and implementing improvements; maintaining reports (cash flow, AR aging, billing, inventory); leading morning meetings in the GM’s absence; ensuring SOPs, safety regulations, and brand standards are followed; performing property and room inspections; overseeing maintenance and FF&E; collaborating with the sales team on client relations and new business opportunities; filling in across departments when needed; supporting audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Strong management skills
- ability to appropriately assign or delegate work and authority to others in the accomplishment of goals
- provide coaching, advice and assistance as required
- Experience: At least 5 to 10 years’ experience in the hospitality industry
- At least 3 to 4 years of experience as an Asst. General Manager
- Available to work when needed, including weekends, holidays, and nights
- EDUCATION: A degree or diploma in hotel management or a related field is preferred
- Excellent computer system skills
